Hazelnut cookies and to do list feature!
Nov. 28th, 2004 02:02 amWell, well, well.
I really like the hazelnut cookies at the Weaver St. They are just the ticket for a small snack. So, I noticed today that there were hazelnuts in the bulk section and happily, they weren't to expensive. Thus, I could perhaps make the hazelnut cookies of the Weaver St. in my very own kitchen. I had assumed that the hazelnuts would be too expensive, but as it was they didn't have nothing on the price of pecans and were in the range of almonds. It was a go.
So I made this recipe, thinking that it would be similar to the delightful cookie recipe of the Weaver St. And I was right! And they are easy!

I added a couple of healthy pinches of cinnamon as I suspect the Weaver St. uses cinnamon in theirs.
The only small problems are that a) the cookie recipe doesn't reallly make 40 cookies. Unless they are mice sized cookies. It makes about 20, one cookie sheet full, and they are small cookies not the pleasantly largish sized ones of the Weaver St. Doubling and futzing will solve this problem in the future. and b) I burnt the cookies. They were still okay, enough for me to call a modest success, but burnt nonetheless. I hate our oven. It was an oversight not to check them every five minutes.
I have also noted that there is a to-do list feature in LiveJournal. This is exciting! I live by lists. I would get nothing done and be a mental wreck without lists. Thank goodness I took Ben Franklin's advice via is autobiography to heart (he is massively ADD, his coping mechanisms are solid) and started making lists at a youngish age. However, the jury is out re: the live journal list. At first I was excited, and then noticed that you have to pay to keep them private. And I'm not sure the public needs the nitty gritty of my lists, and that the live journal system will accommodate my usual list making strategies (I tried using Outlook for a bit, it failed failed failed to accommodate me). So we'll see about it.
