"Optimism"
Nov. 15th, 2004 10:17 amSo, this morning I went to CVS to purchase deodorant. Not exactly journal worthy event, except for a curious thing. All of the scent descriptions were vague, nay, even inexplicable. And my usual frustration with finding an unscented alternative was present with a vengeance. All I want is for my deoderant to be a deodorant, not an odorant, for pete's sake. Is that to much to ask? Apparently. Instead they (they being the corporate providers of product) want me to smell like "Optimism" "Exhilaration" and "Pacific Breeze." The last time I smelled a pacific breeze it smelled like salt, and vaguely fishy. Why would I want to smell like that? And all of these positive emotion names, what do they smell like anyway? I wasn't aware that optimism had a smell. I think if they had a deodorant that was labeled "angst" I'd buy it, just out of a sense of solidarity and reflection of my true feelings on the subject of deodorants.
