My mind is like a great gray cloud
Jun. 3rd, 2009 06:31 pmI was really crabby today. I still am, but I am counting my blessings.
While walking back from the park I saw a guy in flip flops get a bee stuck under his foot. He was stung a bunch and howling about it. The group of oafs he was with, khaki blue oxford former frat people sort of dudes by the look of em', did nothing except gawk. I almost ran and got ice for him from Akai Hana, but felt weird about it so didn't. I hope he wasn't allergic because his friends seemed copeless.
So I'm glad I'm not him.
I hate trying to find anything in Durham. Its like a giant Rose's department store. Impossible to navigate. I printed out directions, looked at the location in street view, thought I knew where I was going, and it was like the object of my hunt was yanked out of existence. And honestly, the scruffy strip mall could have been torn down and replaced and you'd never know. There are so many stupid strip malls around. I don't have nearly this problem finding may way with directions and a map anywhere else. Any amity I have build up towards Durham inevitably disappears when I try to navigate there.
Driving is horrible, too. I've been doing a lot of it lately. I curse the lack of wide ranging public transit here.
Do I really want to live here? There are lots of things I like, but lately I'm really irritated with the area. Its a moot point though, because the hubinator has a great job which isn't easily replaceable. So here we stay.
