Pittsboro General Store
May. 19th, 2005 02:25 pmI and Jj were slacker kids today, instead of zipping into school like a responsible person he suggested going to Pittsboro and I went along. I'd never been there before, and the town meets with my approval. Beggars and Choosers was one of the better antique/thrift stores I've been to in the region. We went specifically to have lunch at Pittsboro General Store, which was good. How novel for a restaurant around here! I had the portobella sandwich (vegan) with dill pasta salad. There were lots of veggie options on the menu, and a few vegan ones too, which is darn nice. The ambiance was super cute, there was lots of funky little art around including a white ghostly puppet from the bread and puppet theater company hanging from the ceiling. I very much want to go back for Huevos Rancheros some morning. My one problem with the place is that it was pricey, so the value wasn't great. 7 bucks and some change is too much for a portabella sandwich even with a side and quacamole. Which means that we are going to have to wait for our cash reserves to build up a bit before going out there again.
I really need to figure out how to motivate myself a little better. I've been filling out a time sheet to record how much time I spend on things in an effort to make sure I'm working on my PhD project an adequate amount of time. The time sheet is revealing what I suspected, and that is other work is taking up too much time to make dissertating doable. But there is some time in the day that I need to work on using- I should be reading in the evening. And I have been really slacking on the CRM stuff this week. I'm hoping once I get used to the extra bookstore hours I'll do better. Yesterday the boot of the man was upon my neck at the bookstore: I had to watch a customer service motivational video, fill out a background check form, and was informed that shortly we will have to wear uniform tee shirts. Feh. Suffice to say, I'm a bit annoyed with that job at the moment. Ooops, 2:40. Time for rushing! Must accomplish several random tasks before my shift.
