The Weekend
Jul. 25th, 2005 03:51 pmMy friend stood me up for coffee, I'm not too chuffed about it, I'll update my livejournal instead.
The weekend was good. We didn't go to Transformus, the NC burning man event, as planned. The hubby thought he was going to be helping out his ex-bandmates recording, and his work was being whiney about letting him take the time off, and I had a botany class and I could get some extra Bullshead hours (=brownie points) so we decided against spending the time, money and energy going away for the weekend. Which is slightly disappointing, but overall I think we made a good decision. I didn't feel like I had much to add to that event anyway, I don't have enough money or time for making public art just at the moment.
The house is pretty much clean, courtesy of us staying in and cleaning on Sunday. We still need to vacuumn, straighten the bedroom and the hubby needs to clean the litter box and finish the bathroom like he said he would. I mopped, among other things, which has been needing doing for a long time. I don't mind mopping, but our floors are so old, crusty and marked up that it doesn't really change their appearance as much as I'd like. All that work, and the floors still look like ass. Oh well.
Botany class is okay, but I think I'm sick of classes. Teaching may have ruined me, because I think there are portions of this class I could do better than the instructor. Oh well. I learned how to id some euphorbia species, including one that is good for treating dengue fever, called "bone fever plant". I hope that bit of information is never useful for me.
Saturday evening we participated in a successful collaborative art project with bobtshirt and his wife. We took a tremendously tacky picture with a redeeming element (the cat in amidst the wacked red foliage was kinda cool) and radically improved it. It was good to have a base to work off of, it helped make the collaboration work. Very good fun, I want to do more of that.
Its been hot. At least its not as hot as in the SW. I have been making Noodles in Peanut Sauce with Veggies (its vegan, btw) rather a lot, and I like it bunches (I got the gist of the sauce from my friend Pam, who makes it everytime we visit for dinner, I think its in her two vegetarian recipes- which is fine with us, as its yummy). Here is the recipe:
